On January 13, 2025, Ericsson of Sweden announced the ANA (AI-based NetCloud Assistant), an AI assistant that helps companies manage their 5G networks. Unlike traditional chatbots that use search to provide links to existing resources, this AI assistant is said to have the ability to read, understand, and generate content such as text and graphs.
ANA is based on the company's technical documentation and Large Language Model (LLM). Key features include knowledge summary and configuration assistance, enhanced troubleshooting, policy recommendations, and custom graph creation. The company also says that all AI components are hosted within the Ericsson environment, eliminating the need for API calls to third-party generated AI applications and ensuring user data and privacy.
Pankaj Malhotra, Head of Enterprise Networking & Security at Ericsson's Enterprise Wireless Solutions division, said that ANA "has the ability to simplify the deployment, management and troubleshooting of enterprise cellular networking than any other company," and commented that "by investing heavily in the latest AI technologies, we can enable even the most streamlined IT teams to tackle the challenges of 5G management and enhance network reliability, security, and user experience."
