U.S. telecommunications giant Verizon announced on December 17 a new private 5G solution, 5G Private Network with Enterprise AI, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. The solution combines Verizon's private 5G network and private Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) with NVIDIA's AI enterprise software platform and NIM microservices to provide enterprise customers with real-time AI services on-premise for enterprise customers.

The new solution is designed to be plug-and-play and supports a variety of AI and connectivity applications, including third-party ones. It can manage applications that require high processing power, such as generative AI language models, visual language models, video streaming, broadcast management, computer vision, AR/VR/XR, autonomous mobile robots (AMR)/autonomous guided vehicles (AGV) and IoT.

Srini Kalapala, SVP of Technology and Products at Verizon, said, "Generative AI with predictive capabilities will be a critical component of digital transformation and future business growth in nearly every industry," adding, "Our industry-leading private 5G/MEC and other The unique strengths of the network, combined with NVIDIA's AI computing capabilities, will enable real-time AI applications that require security, ultra-low latency, and high bandwidth," he commented.

Verizon plans to begin demonstrating the solution in early 2025.
