Sweden's Ericsson and Swiss telecom giant Swisscom recently announced that they will collaborate on the provision of a standalone mobile private network (MPN) based on Ericsson's private 5G portfolio.

The new solution is targeted at enterprise customers in Switzerland and provides both 4G and 5G connectivity simultaneously through Ericsson's dual-mode core technology. The solution supports a wide range of indoor and outdoor use cases, including mobile robotics, digital twins, and connected workforces. It will enable customers to securely store sensitive and large volumes of application data on their premises.

Swisscom and Ericsson announced in April this year the expansion of their strategic partnership, which will begin in 2015. The new three-year agreement will drive the introduction of AI, automation, and other technologies into Swisscom's telecommunications network to improve the customer experience, with a focus on sustainability.

Swisscom also stated that the new MPN solution "will further expand the range of services it supports in the coming months.
