On October 21, U.S. telecommunications giant T-Mobile announced a partnership with local Miller Electric Company for the use of local 5G for self-driving vehicles in the waterfront area of Jacksonville, Florida.

The project is part of the Ultimate Urban Ciculator program, which aims to revitalize Jacksonville with self-driving vehicles, using T-Mobile's Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) local 5G network to The bus-like self-driving vehicle will operate on a stretch of less than 5 km from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville to a new location on the waterfront. This local 5G network will be used for real-time video surveillance and two-way voice and video communication between passengers and employees to assist in the safe movement of passengers.
