5G Americas, the U.S. industry association for advanced communications technologies, including 5G, recently released its latest white paper on 6G technology, "The 6G Upgrade in the 7-8 GHz Spectrum Range: Coverage, Capacity, and Technology. The 6G Upgrade in the 7-8 GHz Spectrum Range: Coverage, Capacity, and Technology". In it, the paper notes that the 7G-8GHz frequency band offers the potential for 6G to provide up to 10-20 times the capacity of current 5G and to facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI and XR.

The white paper emphasizes that "the availability of mid-band 1.5 to 2 GHz in each market is essential for the successful deployment of 6G. The paper also mentions that 7.125 GHz to 8.400 GHz is called the "golden band of 6G," and mentions the advantages of this band, such as 4 to 5 times the spectral efficiency of current 5G and reduced deployment costs through the reuse of existing 5G base stations. He described the band as "extremely important for achieving economies of scale and lowering costs for carriers and consumers.

Viet Nguyen, VP of PR and Technology at 5G Americas, commented, "7G-8GHz could be the cornerstone of 6G technology, enabling faster and more reliable networks that are essential for the next wave of innovation, such as AI, smart cities and immersive experiences."
