Finland's Nokia announced on October 7 that it has entered into a global partnership with NTT DATA to drive digital transformation through private 5G in key areas such as airports and smart cities. The partnership aims to meet the growing demand for reliable, state-of-the-art connectivity solutions that are essential for business and municipal operations.

Through the partnership between the two companies, the City of Brownsville, Texas, USA, has already deployed a private 5G RAN (Radio Access Network). The project combines Nokia's advanced 5G radio access portfolio with NTT Data's private 5G network-as-a-service platform (P5G) to enhance citizen services, improve public safety, achieve sustainability goals, and effectively grow the economy. The two companies also have a joint venture in Cologne, Germany. The two companies also provide private 5G solutions to Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany and Fraport, the country's airport operator. They are helping to improve operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
