Research firm Kaleido Intelligence recently released its latest report on the private LTE/5G market. In it, the report reveals that spending on private LTE/5G networks by enterprises is expected to grow to more than $7 billion per year by 2028.
According to the report, total enterprise spending on private LTE/5G is expected to reach approximately $2 billion by the end of 2024 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 36% through 2028. In addition, the number of private LTE/5G networks worldwide is expected to reach approximately 18,000 by 2028.
By industry, the adoption by the manufacturing sector is particularly significant, with the manufacturing sector expected to utilize 27% of the world's private LTE/5G networks (approximately 5,000 networks) in 2028. The energy and utilities sector will be the next to see the greatest adoption, with approximately 4,000 networks to be utilized by this industry in 2028. As a result, spending on private networks by companies in these two industries will account for more than half of the market in 2028.
The report also noted that "2027 will be a milestone for private 5G. It predicts that more than half of all private networks deployed that year will be private 5G, and more than two-thirds of all private networks the following year.
James Moar, author of the report, commented that "private networking is still an experimental model for many companies, both for vendors and customers," and that "this report does not exhaust all possibilities during initial deployment, but rather presents an initial business case and It shows that it is essential to have a model that can be extended as needed."
