NTT DATA will provide cutting-edge data analysis and fan experience to the British Open Golf this summer using private 5G, AI, Digital Twin, and other technologies. The company has had a sponsorship agreement with the British Golf Association (R&A) since 2013, but this will be the first time a private 5G network will be deployed at a golf tournament in the UK.

The tournament venue will feature the NTT DATA WALL, an LED screen approximately 20 meters wide. It will provide real-time ball-tracking data using digital twin technology, "ShotView," which allows visitors to grasp the playing status and viewpoints of players, and match highlights extracted by AI algorithms. Also installed is "Lottie," a digital human technology that provides insight and information about the tournament and players, offering visitors an interactive experience through conversation. These technologies are supported by NTT Data's private 5G network.

Steve Otto, CTO of The R&A, said, "Our long-term partnership with NTT Data will enable us to develop new ways to leverage the opportunities of the modern golf tournament, from commercial viability to sustainability and broader engagement with fans," adding, "Their insights and innovative technology The application of their insights and innovative technology, particularly data analytics, will not only make golf more accessible and engaging, but will ensure that the British Open will thrive for many years to come."
