On June 19, French telecommunications giant Orange announced that it will deploy private 5G (stand-alone system) at more than 120 local stadiums as well as airports, train stations, and training facilities during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This private 5G network, which features fast and stable upload speeds, ultra-low latency for real-time video distribution, and excellent security, will be used by domestic and international tourists, athletes, and staff as well as local broadcasters.
According to the company, special mobile offers will be available to tourists, athletes, and existing customers this summer when the Olympics take place. The 15,000 athletes participating in the games will receive a free 5G eSIM (which includes 100GB of data within Europe, unlimited calls and text messages) in cooperation with Samsung. Other services will include special offers on prepaid SIM services for travelers and the opening of the 5G network for existing private/corporate customers.
Orange is one of the premium partners of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has allocated the largest frequency bandwidth for the Olympic Games/Paralympics to date.
