Samsung Research, Samsung's R&D organization, announced on May 20 a partnership with Arm, a leading British semiconductor design company. The two companies will collaborate on research into SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data), a parallel packet processing technology, one of the key software technologies expected to be utilized in 6G communications.
According to Samsung, the technology is necessary for processing the vast amount of communications data in the 6G era and will contribute to the establishment of flexible and efficient communications systems. As part of the partnership, the two companies plan to launch an open source project to jointly develop and improve the technology.
Software technology is becoming increasingly important in 6G communications," said Jinguk Jeong, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research's Advanced Communications Research Center. "Innovation is essential to handle the huge amount of data generated by 6G. This technology partnership with Arm is an important step toward parallel technology innovation."
